Interview | Life, Death, and Public Art, Edmonton Arts Council
I recently collaborated with with friend, artist and architect Jeffrey Riedl on Veil, a percent for art funded public artwork in the new South Haven Cemetery administrative building.
We wanted Veil to be non-denominational, and a universal metaphor for contemplating death and temporality of life. The viewer gets to see one frozen moment in the timeline of a veil blowing in the wind. It represents a delicate threshold between inside and outside but also between life and death.
